Thank You For Another Great Year!
GREELEY INDEPENDENCE STAMPEDE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 5, 2003
Greeley, Colo. The Greeley Stampede would like to thank everyone who participated in this year's fantastic event. With the types of events and number of people hosted, it would not be possible without the involvement of everyone in the community. There are dozens of sponsors; hundreds of donors and thousands of volunteers that help the event pump $53 million into this economy. It also has put Greeley on the map by bringing together nearly half a million people over eleven days.
With another year of sold out finals rodeo and demolition derby plus two sold out concerts, including a record-setting opening night show, the 2003 Stampede was a great success. The overall estimated attendance was 441,000!
Kenny Chesney with Deana Carter set a new concert attendance record with 14,235! The previous record was set just last year by Toby Keith with 14,004. This year's rock concert, Def Leppard was also sold out as well as the finals rodeo on the 4th of July and the demolition derby.
Scholarships were also successful this year. Several revenue events during the Greeley Stampede were for the sole purpose of raising funds for the Stampede Foundation Scholarship Fund. Total combined monies raised during the 2003 event were $27,000. Since this time last year, the Stampede has given more than $20,000, including 41 graduating high school seniors continuing their education.
Whether you missed the Stampede Finals Rodeo on July 4th, or if you just want to catch all the action again, you can see it broadcast on Outdoor Life Network (OLN). The PRCA has been airing many of its top rodeos and bull riding events on OLN throughout the year. The Stampede Finals will be on Sunday, August 24th at 5:00pm and 8:00pm. If you miss those, they're on again Tuesday, August 26th at 5:00pm. Check listings for any programming changes.
