Greeley, CO. - The Rocky Mountain Stampede (formerly the Greeley Stampede) was the recipient of numerous international marketing awards, including a Silver Grand Pinnacle Award at the 2003 International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) annual Pinnacle Awards Luncheon in Anaheim, CA on Wednesday. The Silver Grand Pinnacle Award recognizes the Stampede as the second best event world-wide in marketing and promotion as given by the IFEA, which is the premier association for festivals and events, worldwide.
The Rocky Mountain Stampede is no stranger to the IFEA Pinnacle awards, having received many in the past including the Gold Grand Pinnacle in 1999, the Silver Grand Pinnacle in 2001 as well as numerous other awards in miscellaneous categories since 1997. "The IFEA Pinnacle Awards are the highest honor a festival or event can receive in the industry," said Lynn Settje, C.E.O. of the Stampede, "Although the Stampede has won a Silver Grand Pinnacle and even a Gold Grand Pinnacle before, we're really proud to win again." While Pinnacle Awards are given for many different categories, including best newsprint advertising, best new promotion and best news stunt to name a few, the Grand Pinnacle Award recognizes excellence in overall festival and event marketing. "It's important to note the Stampede competes in the highest budget category of the Pinnacle Awards, competing against such great events as the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Fiesta Bowl and so on," said Kyle Holman, Director of Marketing for the Stampede, "It's also important to note the only event we took second in Grand Pinnacle judging to, the Kentucky Derby Festival."
The Stampede also took home Gold Pinnacle Awards for Best New Promotion and Most Creative/Effective News Stunt, (both for Bucky the new Stampede mascot) Silver Pinnacle Awards for Best Miscellaneous Clothing and Bronze Pinnacle Awards for Best Single Magazine Display Ad, Best Event Photograph and Best New Event Within an Existing Festival (for the Colorado Sip & Spit Wine Tasting). "To receive as many Pinnacle Awards as the Stampede has, plus the Silver Grand Pinnacle Award recognized the Stampede has long been on the cutting edge of marketing and promotion of a world-class festival," said Connie Williams, President of the Colorado Festival & Events Association.
