Greeley Stampede Foundation Scholarships

Scholarship Information

The Greeley Stampede Foundation is excited to continue the Scholarship Program for 2014.  The Stampede Foundation has provided scholarships in Northern Colorado since 1993.  Applicants must be a resident of Weld County and a graduate from an accredited high school in this geographic area.
Scholarship recipients may use the funds at any accredited college or university of their choice. Students who meet general qualifications (listed on the scholarship application) and are scheduled to graduate in the spring of 2014 have the opportunity to apply.  Each winning scholarship recipient will receive a total of $1,000, half  ($500) awarded in the fall semester and the other half ($500) in the spring semester of 2015.
For the second year, one scholarship will be designated for students in an arts related field. Students pursuing a career in the arts, whether fine or performing art, are encouraged to apply.

Selection Criteria

  • A student graduating from a Weld County High School in spring 2014
  • Involvement in school and community leadership activities
  • Grade Point Average (Minimum cumulative of 3.00)
  • Financial need 

Scholarship Awards

  • Payable to the financial aid office where the recipient will be attending, in the name of the recipient
  • $500 per semester, Fall 2014/Spring 2015
  • No cash paid directly to the student
  • Payment will be made to the college or university by September 1, 2014 or upon receiving written verification of acceptance
  • Scholarship must be used during the 2014/2015 school year
  • Scholarship may not be carried over and is non-renewable
  • Scholarships will be applicable to any institution of higher education

All applicants will be notified in writing of the status of their application by the end of April.  The Stampede Foundation will present the scholarship award certificates during the Big Buckle Ball on Saturday, June 21. Event details will be sent in April letter.
Parents: Please take a moment to consider your involvement with your child's application.  It is the student's responsibility to complete the scholarship application.  Parents/guardians may assist or guide, but they should allow students to be responsible adults and achieve success on their own merits.

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION:

One letter of recommendation MUST be from a TEACHER, COACH, OR ACADEMIC (NON-FAMILY MEMBER).  
 
The second letter MUST be from a WORK OR VOLUNTEER SUPERVISOR, A YOUTH LEADER OR PERSONAL ACQUAINTANCE (NOT FROM A TEACHER/COUNSELOR OR FAMILY MEMBER).
