Art Scholarship Information

ART SCHOLARSHIP NOW OPEN FOR 2018

Weld County High School Seniors (Class of 2018) and Juniors (Class of 2019) are invited to enter a piece of art in the Greeley Stampede Foundation’s “Young Trailblazer Art Competition.” The submitted art will be exhibited during the Greeley Stampede’s 19th annual Western Invitational Art Exhibit & Sale, June 22nd – July 4th 2018. Art will be judged by professional artists and two $2500 college scholarships will be awarded!

In 2017, the Stampede Foundation awarded twenty $2,500 general scholarships, two art scholarships, one rodeo scholarship and a scholarship for Miss Rodeo Colorado.

The Stampede Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization formed to support continuing education for Weld County students. The Greeley Stampede produces and hosts annual events, including the Big Buckle Ball, Western Art Show and the Stampede Golf Tournament, to benefit the scholarship fund.Since the inception of the program in 1994, the Stampede Foundation has given more than $370,000 in scholarships to over 500 Northern Colorado students.

Art Rules and Submission

  • Participants must be a Weld County high school senior (Class of 2018) or junior (Class of 2019).
  • One piece of art per student may be submitted. All genres and mediums are accepted.
  • The art must be original and completed independently.
  • All two dimensional art must be sturdily mounted and preferably matted and ready to hang.
  • The completed Young Trailblazer Art Competition Entry Form must be submitted with the art.
  • The Stampede Foundation will have the right to exhibit or publish the art and the names of the students in print, voice, or visual media.
  • Delivery methods:
    • Deliver art and Entry form in person to the Greeley Stampede office, 600 N 14th Ave, Greeley, CO 80631 on June 7 -14, 2018. Office hours are Mon-Fri, 8am to 4pm.
    • Mail art and Entry form to above address, “Attn: Young Trailblazers Art Competition.” Allow time for delivery by June 14, 2018.
  • Art will be available for pickup at the Island Grove Event Center July 5-6, 9am – 12pm. Art will not be returned via mail. The Greeley Stampede is not responsible for art not picked up.
  • Art is left at the student’s risk. The Greeley Stampede is not responsible for loss or damage.
  • Art submissions will be disqualified if the rules and submission process are not met.
  • Recognizing that art is an individual representation of a person’s thoughts and vision, the Greeley Stampede Foundation does not wish to censor the work of any one artist. The Foundation does, however, respectfully reserve the right to determine if the work submitted is appropriate for display.

Academic Scholarship Information


ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP NOW CLOSED FOR 2018
Applicants will be notified of their status by mid-April.
Weld County High School seniors who meet general qualifications and are scheduled to graduate in the spring are encouraged to apply. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on their outstanding academic results, leadership in the community and plans to further their education.Recipients of the scholarship may use the scholarship at any accredited trade school, college or university.

Selection Criteria

  • A student graduating from a Weld County High School in spring 2018
  • Involvement in school and community leadership activities
  • Grade Point Average (Minimum cumulative of 3.50)
  • Financial need may be considered
  • For art scholarship, please contact your art instructor

Scholarship Awards

  • Payable to the financial aid office where the recipient will be attending, in the name of the recipient
  • Scholarship amount will be paid in two equal payments per semester.
  • No cash paid directly to the student
  • Payment will be made to the college or university by September 1, 2018 or upon receiving written verification of acceptance
  • Scholarship must be used during the 2018/2019 school year
  • Scholarship may not be carried over and is non-renewable
  • Scholarships will be applicable to any institution of higher education

Important Application Dates

  • Application deadline or before 4:00 p.m. February 16, 2018.
  • Review/selection period February 18th through April 14th, 2018
  • Selected recipients will be notified by April 15th, 2018.
