Scholarship Program

Want to Contribute to the Scholarship Fund?
The Stampede Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization formed to support continuing education for Weld County students. The Greeley Stampede produces and hosts annual events, including the Big Buckle Ball, Western Art Show and the Stampede Golf Tournament, to benefit the scholarship fund. Since the inception of the program in 2001, the Stampede Foundation has given more than $735,540 in scholarships to over 642 Northern Colorado students.

Academic Scholarship Information

Weld County High School seniors who meet general qualifications and are scheduled to graduate in the spring are encouraged to apply. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on their outstanding academic results, leadership in the community, Stamped involvement, and plans to further their education. Recipients of the scholarship may use the scholarship at any accredited trade school, college or university.

Selection Criteria

  • A student graduating from a Weld County High School in Spring 2023
  • Involvement in school and community leadership activities
  • Grade Point Average (Minimum cumulative of 3.50)
  • Involvement with the Greeley Stampede

Scholarship Awards

  • Payable to the financial aid office where the recipient will be attending, in the name of the recipient
  • Scholarship amount will be paid in one payment at the beginning of the fall semester 2023
  • No payments are paid directly to the student
  • Payment will be made to the college or university by August 15, 2023 or upon online acceptance
  • Scholarship must be used during the 2023-24 school year, or can be deferred for one year
  • Scholarship is non-renewable
  • Scholarships will be applicable to any institution of higher education

Tips Before Starting the Application

You will need:
1. A photo/senior picture
2. FAFSA or 1040 Tax information (document uploaded in application)
3. Official High School Transcript

Questions to be prepared for:
1. Work History
2. Extracurricular Activities/Volunteer History
3. Awards/Honors Information

Essay Questions to be answered in application:
1. How would you describe yourself?
2. Tell us about your leadership experience.
3. Aside from your college degree, what do you hope to gain from your college experience?
4. What is your favorite part about living in Weld County?
5. Why do you feel that community involvement is important?
6. Tell us about your connection/involvement with the Greeley Stampede.

*Essay questions have a 2,000 character limit; it is suggested that you prepare answers to these questions in a Word document prior to starting the application.
