MEET THE NEW 2019 STAMPEDE COMMITTEE MEMBERS

The Greeley Stampede is governed by a board of directors known as the Stampede Committee. Member volunteers serve four-year terms and are each responsible for certain operational areas of the event. The committee is very dedicated to the success of the Greeley Stampede and play a vital role in the event’s success. With the coming of the 2019 event, the Greeley Stampede congratulates two out-going members, welcomes a new general Chairman and introduces two new committee members.

Out-Going Members

John DeWitt and Patty Gates are both former General Chairmen and each served for 6+ years on the Committee. These two members were vital for the event’s success and instrumental for recent park improvement projects. The Greeley Stampede would like to thank John DeWitt and Patty Gates for their commitment and dedication while serving on the Committee.

Chad Sanger – General Chairman

Chad grew up in Greeley graduating from Greeley West High School in 1994. He participated in Little Britches, Colorado High School Rodeo Association, and USTRC as a team roper, and still enjoys the sport of team roping today. Chad earned his Farrier Science degree in 1996 and began his own shoeing business. He served as the Greeley Stampede on-site farrier from 1998-2008. In 2000, alongside his father John Sanger, Chad started Turn Key Builders and continues to operate the company serving as President. Chad currently serves as Chairman on the Weld County Building Advisory Board. He is the past President for the Weld County Builders Association and the former site-chair for the American Cancer Society’s Cattle Baron’s Ball. He and his wife, Marcy, have been married for 19 years and have 13 year old twin boys. Chad has served as the Stampede Parking and Admissions Chair for the past 4 years.

The General Chairman is responsible for leading the event, overseeing the Committee and being an event spokesperson.

New Committee Members

Before becoming a committee member, individuals go through an application process and are selected by the Committee to shadow a committee member for a year to learn more about the event and a specific area. The Greeley Stampede officially welcomes two new committee members: Dan Dennie and Todd Stephens.

Dan Dennie – Hospitality Chairman

Dan Dennie has been a community volunteer since his arrival in Northern Colorado in 1998. Prior to moving to Greeley he served twenty one years on active duty with the United States Air Force, with assignments at the Defense Language Institute, Presidio of Monterey, California, the Office of the Surgeon General, Pentagon, Washington D.C., the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado, and Kunsan Air Base, Korea, among others. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, he moved to Greeley to continue his work in healthcare, where he served in a variety of leadership roles for Banner Health. Dan has served on numerous nonprofit boards to include the United Way of Weld County, The American Red Cross of Northern Colorado, Better Business Bureau of Northern Colorado and Wyoming, Institute For Marketplace Trust, Northern Colorado Legislative Alliance, Weld County Bright Futures, Greeley ACE Board, Regis University, Healthcare Administration Advisory Board, and Aims Community College Radiology Program Advisory Board and was named an Aims Community College Honorary Fellow in 2011. Dan also served as Chairman of Weld Recover, assisting those families affected by the 2013 floods. In 2017, Dan was awarded the Governor’s Outstanding Volunteer Award. Dan is originally from LaGrange, Kentucky and now lives in Greeley with his wife Cyndi of 40 years. He is a proud husband, father and grandfather. And while he was born in Kentucky, his home and heart are in Colorado.

The Hospitality Chairman is responsible for group ticket sales, group sales meals, arena skybox sales and the Sponsor Patio hospitality area.

Todd Stephens – Parking/Admission Chairman

Todd grew up on a farm in east central Nebraska; he graduated high school in 1982. While in school he participated in high school sports and was a member of Future Farmers of America and earned his State Farmer Degree. Todd’s professional career has always been in the Ag industry; selling animal nutrition, agronomy, livestock and Ag equipment. In 2008 Todd and his family moved to the Greeley area. In 2009 Todd began his career as Manager of Bill’s Volume Sales and Service in Pierce Co. Todd spent several years volunteering in youth coaching positions. Todd is active in his church leading men’s groups. Todd and his wife Teresa have been married for 34 years and have two adult sons.

The Parking & Admissions Chairman is responsible for general public parking, reserved parking, volunteer RV program, guest shuttles, and park admission program.

ABOUT THE GREELEY STAMPEDE: The Greeley Stampede, a 501(c)4 nonprofit corporation, is the Colorado’s premiere summer western celebration. This longstanding event has grown in diversity and popularity since its inception and has provided music and rodeo entertainment to hundreds of thousands of people every summer.
