New leaders emerge at Greeley Stampede rodeo


PRCA Pro Rodeo sponsored by Agfinity brought in over 5,300 spectators during the third rodeo performance of the series. The eight 2017 Miss Rodeo Colorado contestants made an appearance in tonight’s performance. National Anthem Contest winner, Brooklyn Buhre gave a proud rendition.

Listed as a Top-25 Pro Rodeo according to purse size, the Stampede is famous for having a topnotch performance. The Greeley Stampede Rodeo features eight exciting events during every performance: Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Team Roping, Steer Wrestling, Tie-Down Roping, Barrel Racing, Mutton Bustin, and Bull Riding.

Top contestants for tonight’s performance:

  • Bareback Riding – Evan Jayne riding Showbiz – score: 85 new leader
  • Steer Wrestling – Tom Lewis – time: 4.5
  • Team Roping – Manny Egusquiza, Jr. and Daniel Braman IV – time: 4.8
  • Saddle Bronc Riding – Rusty Wright riding Falling Star – score: 85.5 new leader
  • Tie Down Roping – Adam Gray – time: 11.0
  • Mutton Bustin – Charlie Haskett – score: 85
  • Barrel Racing – Pamela Capper – time: 17.46
  • Bull Riding – Shane Proctor riding The Gift – score: 86.5 new leader

The fourth of six PRCA Rodeo performances is on Thursday, June 30, Patriot Night sponsored by The Burris Company. Show a military ID, military dependent ID or come in uniform to receive FREE park admission and admission to north grandstands during the 6/30 rodeo performance. ABOUT THE GREELEY STAMPEDE: The Greeley Stampede, a 501(c)4 nonprofit corporation, is Colorado’s premiere summer western celebration. This longstanding event has grown in diversity and popularity since its inception and has provided music and rodeo entertainment to hundreds of thousands of people every summer. The Stampede was inducted in the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2014 and the event was named 2015 Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) Mountain States Large Rodeo of the Year.
