GREELEY STAMPEDE PARTNERS WITH AIMS COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOR FIRST RESPONDERS SCHOLARSHIP

11/01/2023

The Greeley Stampede Foundation and the Aims Foundation partnered in 2023 to offer a new scholarship specifically for First Responder students enrolled at the college in EMS, EMT, Paramedic, Police Academy, or Fire Science.

“The new scholarship is a way to promote future First Responders and show them that we support their decision to help keep communities safe,” commented James Herman, Greeley Stampede Foundation Vice Chairman. “These individuals in the programs offered at Aims Community College are future heroes. The scholarship is a way for us to thank them for their dedication.”

This inaugural First Responders Scholarship has been awarded to Shawn Weiss of the Aims Community College EMS program and Fire Science Academy. After graduating from the University of Northern Colorado with a BS of Sport and Exercise Science, Shawn worked as a personal trainer but felt that he wanted to do more. According to Shawn, “It was in 2022 that I realized that I had a higher calling. I have always had a high respect for first responders and the military, but never looked at myself as being capable of matching their determination, grit, passion, and bravery.” Now Shawn is proving that he does have all of those qualities and has become a leading example of what it means to serve.

Congratulations Shawn on being selected as the First Responders Scholarship recipient and thank you for your dedication to community. The Greeley Stampede Foundation and Aims Foundation would also like to thank all students going through First Responder education.
